Composer’s Notes

Based on Galatians 5:22-23, this anthem was composed at the request of Liz Shepley for the Junior Choir at the 2022 Bonclarken Music Conference. The theme for the gathering was A Fruitful Life: The Fruits of the Spirit. The text for the anthem summarizes St. Paul’s prescription for a joyful life through practicing kindness, patience, goodness, gentleness and self-control. The gentle melody is primarily for unison singing with some optional two-part on the refrain.
