Composer’s Notes:

A popular selection with youth, high school and college ensembles and often requested for festivals, this is possibly my most frequently performed choral anthem. I wrote it on commission for an event called “A Night of Children’s Voices” and conducted the premiere featuring the combined forces of three youth choirs. Here is the text:

Let all the world in ev’ry corner sing, My God and King!
The heav’ns are not too high, God’s praise may thither fly;
The earth is not too low, God’s praises there may grow.
The Church with Psalms must shout, No door can keep them out:
But above all, the heart must bear the longest part.

–George Herbert, alt.
