Composer’s Notes:
I wrote this piece in 1987 when the Minnesota Composers Forum (now the American Composers Forum) sponsored a yearly contest for new compositions for piano four-hands. (It was chosen as one of the six finalists and won me $100 on an applause-o-meter!!) The title refers to the Old Testament prophet Amos, a voice I feel needs to be heeded in a wealthy America, where a quarter of our children still live in poverty.
