Composer’s Notes

This is one of three pieces I was asked to arrange for the Pax Christi Award Ceremony at St. John’s University in 1994. The recipient of the award was Amy Grant, and she sang this after accepting the award. The text is based on the plainchant “Ubi Caritas.” Both the orchestral version and the reduced octavo version are available from Kjos Music. The orchestration was listed incorrectly on the back of the Kjos octavo and in their catalog. The correct instrumentation is 2 flutes, oboe, English horn, 2 clarinets (B-flat), 2 bassoons, 4 horns, percussion (1 or 2 players), harp and strings.
