Composer’s Notes
I wrote Promenade and Galop on commission for the Hopkins (MN) High School Wind Ensemble. It received its premiere on April 30, 2009, under the baton of William Bell. The movements may be performed as a set or individually. Durations are 2’20” and 4″00″ respectively. Promenade may be purchased directly from me. Galop (more here) is available through Boosey & Hawkes or your music retailer.
The Promenade is an easy stroll on a spring morning, with the tempo marked “light and breezy.” The Galop is an energetic romp and race in 2/4 time, in the rhythm of the fastest running gait of a horse.
