Composer’s Notes

These settings were composed in 1998 for Cantamus, the ensemble of girls in grades 9-12 who are one of the seven choirs that make up the Northfield Youth Choirs. Cora Scholz, Founder and Music Director at that time, asked me to write something that featured Maija Niemisto, a talented harpist who was just completing the ninth grade. The pieces in the set are: I. Come, to Your Mommy (Canadian); II. Schloof, Bobbeli, Schloof (Pennsylvania Dutch); and III. ‘Tis Pretty to Be in Ballinderry (Irish).
