Composer’s Notes
Commissioned in 2002 by the Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester, Minnesota under their founding conductor, Rick Kvam, this is a new musical setting of the popular text by Cecil Frances Alexander. This text is used every year to open the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at King’s College, Cambridge, England. It was commissioned in memory of Mary Joyce Frantz.
